Lame posts

That last post was so poorly written that even I couldn't get all the way through. I've been spending some quality time on craigslist lately, trying to find a new dining room table and brio train parts for Ed. A play kitchen wouldn't be a bad find either. Well, not only did I find a great dining room table at an estate sale, but I also found an adorable armoire for j's room.

Since g'parents were out, Den and I decided to drive the 30 minutes to pick up the dining room table. We'd remove the legs, stick it in the back of g'pas car and be off. Not so fast. Apparently the legs would not come off. den tried removing almost every screw on that table bottom and nothing would budge. The table with the legs was about 3 inches too tall for the car--so we paid to have the piece delivered. Ugh. There went 1.5 hours in transfer, horsing around and precious babysitting time.

Next we were to drive about an hour to pick up the armoire west of town. Not wanting to waste 2 hours and not have the piece fit, we borrowed a neighbor's suburban. The piece looked just as beautiful in person as it did in the picture. Then we opened the 4 drawers. The top one worked fine, the next two drawers were sticky, but the last one broke the deal. It wouldn't shut again. I kind of wonder how long it took them to get the drawer to shut.

The seller had told me in response to my question that it was a great piece and they were just downsizing, so getting rid of it. At no point did she mention any problem with the drawers. Next time, besides asking point blank if everything functions properly, I will only look at things that are closer to the house. The seller kept saying, "It's Pottery barn. It's Pottery barn." As if that was supposed to convey a certain level of quality. Well I guess it does convey a certain level, but Den couldn't figure out how he would fix the drawer, so when she finally came back from the kitchen, told us we didn't have to get it if we didn't want to. Well thanks.

Dejected, we headed home again, now having wasted 4-5 hours of our Saturday chasing around furniture that we didn't get. Not to mention that precious babysitting time. Dining room table came today--will post a picture once they are taken.
