Eddie put himself to sleep this evening--took about 3 minutes of whimpering. Course now he is wimpering again an hour later--UGH. Last night was plenty rough --made me glad my parents were coming. He woke up I think 5 times, but when it's that many, who can count?
My super nanny (SN for short) made this week not bad at all. She is the live-in nanny for a woman in the neighborhood whose daughter started pre-school this year. As a result, SN has some free time on her hands. She is a grandmotherly type and is in fact a grandmother, having raised 4 kids. She is petite, not about to be pushed around by anyone, and not afraid to share her opinion. She is from Honduras (perfectly legal), and Eddie and I are polishing up our Spanish while she learns English from us (well, me). I've been amazed at how much I comprehend for the 2 years of Spanish in elementary shcool and the 2 years of Italian in college.
I left Eddie in her care today for 8 hours--the longest I think I've been away from him and it felt so good to get that break. Course I was able to get a lot of work done and some errands run. I think she is the secret to my sanity when Dennis is on travel--and still being able to get any work done for my job. She even washed the sheets and made the guest room bed while Eddie napped. I have to give her stuff to do, because if I don't, she will find something. One day she complained that there was no laundry to do.
I'm dreading the day she tells me she's retiring.
